You need a valid California ID (state ID card or state license) and proof of your status as a medical cannabis patient. If you bring a medical ID card issued by the California Medical Cannabis Patient ID Center (CMCP), or the state of California, most dispensaries will honor it on the spot. If you only have a doctor’s recommendation, the dispensary will simply need to call and verify it through your doctor’s office.
