The effects produced from Indica strains are much more full-bodied and sedative than the mindful effects generated from medicating with Sativa strains. Indica-dominant strains tend to make you feel more couch-locked, sleepy, and relaxed whereas Sativa strains tend to be more thought-provoking and energizing.

Medical marijuana strains range from pure Sativa to pure Indica and everything in between. Hybrid strains consisting of both Indica and Sativa are most common in today’s legal medical marijuana industry (eg. 30% indica – 70% sativa). Because Sativa and Indica buds have very different medicinal benefits and effects, certain strains can be targeted to better treat specific illnesses.
