Regular Strength Cookie Mint Tainted Truffles From Compassion Edibles

Crafted by Compassion Edibles, Cookie Mint Tainted Truffles come in regular strength (100 milligrams of THC) and super strength (225 mg of THC).

Compassion Edibles: Home Of The Tainted Truffle

Based in the San Francisco Bay area, Compassion Edibles was founded by Mickey Martin in 2000 under the name Tainted Edibles. The company strives to produce the best-tasting, most effective infused edibles to cannabis patients in California, and there are talks of the company expanding into other markets.

Compassion Edibles has been around for over a decade – the company operated under the name Tainted Edibles before changing the name in 2007.

Before being raided by the FDA during the same year, the company offered a total of 52 different products in various sizes and strengths.

“Compassion Edibles is best known for their signature line of Tainted Truffles, which come in 8 different flavors.”

Compassion decided to regroup in 2013 with a redesigned product line. They offer a variety of medicated cookies and snacks; their list of specialties include Baklava, Granola, Chocolate Covered Pretzels and more.

Still, Compassion Edibles is best known for their signature line of Tainted Truffles, which come in 8 different flavors. These span from classics like Double Chocolate and Peanut Butter to more daring varieties like Pistachio and Bacon Chocolate.

One of my favorite parts of the Tainted Truffles experience is the detailed information that Compassion provides on each individual package. The display includes a prominent warning label that reads, “CONTAINS CANNABIS”, in addition to another warning that the product contains peanut alergens.

Furthermore, I was happy to see that Compassion Edibles clearly dictates which strains of cannabis they use in each recipe. The list of ingredients for the Cookie Mint Tainted Truffles is as follows:

  • Dark Chocolate (Cacao Beans, Pure Cane Sugar, Cocoa Butter, Soya Lecithin, Vanilla Beans)
  • Heavy Cream
  • Corn Syrup
  • Peppermint Extract
  • Oreo Cookies
  • Potassium Sorbate
  • Cannabis Butter (Primarily Sour Diesel and OG Kush)

Also provided on the Tainted Truffle labeling is a note that estimates how much dried cannabis each package contains (≈8.36 grams), born on/best by dates, and a lot number in order to allow Compassion to track each batch they produce. The company recently added bar codes to their packaging as well, and we’ll be looking to update this review with pictures that reflect this change as soon as possible.

The only other piece of information I would personally like to see on Compassion Edible’s labeling is a more detailed breakdown of the cannabinoid profile. While it clearly provides the tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content (100 mg), I would love to know how much cannabidiol (CBD), cannabinol (CBN), etc. is contained in each package.

How Might The Cookie Mint Tainted Truffles Affect Me?

Having reviewed a few different Tainted Truffles (French Chocolate, Black and White, etc.), I had a pretty good idea of what I was getting myself into. Sure enough, the effects of eating just one truffle (50 mg THC) were just about perfect for my anxiety and joint pain.

Cookie Mint Tainted Truffles are made of a mint chocolate ganache coated in creamy dark chocolate and rolled in Oreo cookie crumbs. I’ve always loved Oreos (who doesn’t?), so I was excited to see how Compassion Edibles would integrate the classic snack into their recipe.

“The Oreos mixed perfectly with the mint chocolate flavor of the ganache, and there was no detectable cannabis taste either.”

My excitement for the Cookie Mint Tainted Trufles only grew when I opened the box to see that every inch of truffle was covered in cookie crumbs. The Oreos mixed perfectly with the mint chocolate flavor of the ganache, and there was no detectable cannabis taste either.

I found one (1) regular strength Tainted Truffle (50 mg THC) to be the perfect dose for my personal needs during the day. It offered noticeable relief from pent-up stress and anxiety in as little as 20 minutes.

These effects lasted for about 3-4 hours, making an entire package the perfect infused edible option to get through a traditional 8-hour work day. On the other hand, eating both truffles at once was a great way to ward off pain and insomnia at the end of a long day.
